"We recently had a wood burner installed and couldn't be happier with the service provided. Second time using Cameron and just like the first time he was professional, knowledgeable, and punctual. The installation was carried out to a very high standard, with great attention to detail and respect for our home throughout the process."
Chimney lining in Wigan
Flue liners supplied and fitted to suit your fire or stove, for a chimney that's sealed, safe and draws properly.
Why line a chimney?
Over decades, the inside of an old brick chimney breaks down. Cracks and gaps in the mortar can let smoke and fumes leak into other rooms or the loft, and an oversized or rough flue can make it hard for a fire to draw.
A liner runs inside the existing chimney, giving smoke a smooth, sealed route to the top. That means better draw, less tar build-up and a safer chimney.
Signs your chimney may need lining
- Smoke or a smoky smell in upstairs rooms, a neighbouring room or the loft
- Brown tar stains coming through on chimney breast walls
- A fire or stove that struggles to draw, even after sweeping
- A failed smoke test
- You're having a new stove fitted to an old chimney
How we fit a liner
We check and sweep the chimney first, then fit a flexible stainless steel liner sized for your appliance from the stove or fireplace up to a new pot or cowl at the top. Once it's in, we test the flue to make sure it's sealed and drawing properly.
Lining is often part of a log burner installation. If you're planning a new stove, we can quote for both together.

Common questions
How do I know if my chimney needs lining?
Common signs are smoke or smells in other rooms, tar staining on the chimney breast, poor draw after sweeping, or a failed smoke test. We'll inspect the chimney and give you an honest answer.
Do I need a liner for a stove?
Usually yes. Most stove installations into an older chimney benefit from a liner, and some require one. We'll assess your chimney before quoting.
Can a lined chimney still be swept?
Yes. Lined flues still need sweeping, and we use brushes suited to flexible liners so they're cleaned without damage.
