"Great service every time. We have used Marsdens for a few years now for our annual chimney sweep. They are always so reliable and have recently replaced the glass in our fire, which we are so pleased with. Would highly recommend."

Chimney pots and cowls
Quality pots and cowls fitted to keep rain, birds and downdraught out of your chimney.
What a cowl does
The top of your chimney takes a battering from the weather. A cowl or cap fitted to the pot helps protect the flue and solve some of the most common chimney problems.
- Rain caps stop water getting into the flue, which can cause damp patches and damage the chimney
- Bird guards stop jackdaws and other birds nesting in your chimney
- Anti-downdraught cowls help stop wind pushing smoke back into the room
- Replacement pots for cracked, loose or missing chimney pots
The right cowl for your chimney
Different chimneys need different solutions, depending on whether the fire is in use, what you burn, and what problem you're trying to fix. We'll look at your chimney and recommend a cowl that suits it, rather than a one-size-fits-all fitting.
Had birds in your chimney before? Once a nest has been cleared, a bird guard is the best way to stop them coming back next spring. See bird nest removal.

Common questions
Which cowl do I need?
It depends on the problem: rain getting in, birds nesting, or smoke blowing back into the room. We'll check your chimney and recommend the right one.
Will a cowl stop my fire smoking?
If the smoke is caused by wind blowing down the chimney, an anti-downdraught cowl can make a real difference. Smoke can also be caused by a blocked flue, so we'll check and sweep it too.
Can you replace a cracked chimney pot?
Yes. We supply and fit replacement chimney pots in a range of styles.
